Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive at Float Shreveport you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire and then be shown to your float suite. You will receive an orientation from one of our staff and have time to ask questions. The staff member will demonstrate how to use the provided earplugs, discuss your pre and post-float showers and make sure you are familiar with the different amenities in your suite.

What do I wear?

Swimsuits are allowed, however we always recommend floating nude. The float pool, shower and dressing area are all located within your float suite where you have complete privacy. Swimsuits can sometimes make you cold and take away from the sensory deprivation experience.

Do I take a shower before my float?

Yes, you will shower before floating using ONLY body wash and shampoo. When you exit the float pool you will shower again using the body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided.

What amenities are provided in the float suite?

You will receive a towel, face cloth, silicone earplugs, vaseline for scrapes, tissue, and bottled water. Each suite also contains a spray bottle next to the pool containing fresh water in case some salt water gets in your eyes during your float. There is also a neck pillow provided if you need some extra support as you float.

How do I know when to exit the pool?

After 60 minutes have passed, you will hear a recording play through the underwater speakers instructing you that your session has ended and it is time to exit the pool for your post-float shower.

What kind of earplugs do you provide?

We provide Mack's silicone putty earplugs. They are moldable and cover the outer opening of the ear only. They are BPA free, non-toxic and hypoallergenic. We encourage inserting your earplugs before your pre-float shower to create a better seal.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing! You don't even need a swimsuit. We provide towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, ear plugs, vaseline, hair dryers, straighteners, and various hair products. If you wear contacts, you should bring something to store them in during your float. Ladies, bring your make-up with you if you like, or leave fresh-faced. We won't judge.

What should I do before my float?

We recommend eating a light meal 1.5-2 hours before you arrive to keep a rumbling tummy from interrupting your float. Also, limit your caffeine and alcohol before your session to allow for the best experience. And DON'T shave!

What if I fall asleep? Could I drown?

Many people fall asleep... and that's ok! It will probably be some of the best sleep of your life. The large amount of salt in the water makes floating quite effortless and drowning virtually impossible. It would take an abnormally conscious effort to roll over, and even if you did, the salt water in your eyes will definitely wake you up.

Will I get claustrophobic?

We doubt it. Both of our rooms contain an open float pool. There is no door to the float pool and you can exit at any time, but we don't think you will want to. Our set up is the perfect combination of roominess and privacy.

Is the water clean?

Yes, the entire volume of the float pool cycles through the powerful UV & micron filtration system a minimum of 3 times before every float. By comparison the standard for public pool sanitation is a 1 x water turnover every 6 hours! All the while the float solution is inhospitable to every known pathogen from the pool and spa industry. Rooms are thoroughly cleaned between each guest and all touchable surfaces, such as grab bars and door handles, are sanitized.

Can I float if I'm pregnant?

Yes! Floating is a great way to alleviate many aches and pains that accompany pregnancy. If you have any concerns, we always recommend consulting with your physician before making an appointment, and we do not allow those with a high-risk pregnancy to float.

What if I just colored my hair?

After coloring your hair, please wait 21 days or until the water runs clear in your shower to come float. If you have already scheduled an appointment, please contact us and we will reschedule your session at no charge.

I just got a tattoo. Can I float?

No! Please wait 4-6 weeks before putting that fresh tattoo in salt water, Trust us, you'll be glad you waited.
